Ross Hinkle, Ben Lavender and my friend Rachel Puckett started a site that allows you stream live concerts from your phone or website and the music. I’m not going to go on and on about how great it is, but really, it’s great. Try them out, listen to past shows.

From the Liveset website - “Established in 2010, Liveset is a digital platform presenting live concert events for the web and mobile devices in handsome HD. Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas (redshirt sophomore) led the Hokies to a 66-13 thrashing of Appalachian State. Thomas, making his first collegiate start, completed 9 of 19 passes for 149 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He didn’t throw any interceptions and didn’t fumble the ball. His backup, Mark Leal, was also impressive. He completed 6 of 9 passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns.

I watched this movie based on the book Brief Interviews with Hideous Men by David foster Wallace. This clip might not have the impact it did on me, out of the context of the movie, but John Krasinski is explaining why he cheated. It’s one of the most honest explications I’ve ever heard but still shallow and certainly does not qualify his actions. I found it fascinating though, and it made me wonder about the men who have cheated on me, if their explanation would have been as grandiose and straight forward. This book will most likely be the next one we read in book club- I’m looking forward to it as books are generally better than movies. I would highly recommend this movie.

My 2011 Resolutions

I know, I know, some of you think resolutions are stupid. “Why can’t you just make changes on your own? Why not start in September?” Well I don’t really care what you think; I love simple traditions like this. I have 6 journals with four entries a piece to prove my dedication to my resolutions, each starting with “Dear journal this year will be different…” And I certainly hope this year will be.

Don’t get me wrong, 2010 brought some wonderfully people into my life and some really great opportunities (GirlsPintOut, book clubs, wine club and a new love for air conditioners after 17 days at the State Fair.) But it was also filled with ridiculous medical bills from 2 ER visits in 14 days, a broken foot, 3 car accidents resulting in a totaled car, 2 heart breaks one of which inspired a witty blog about beer, and a massive war between the Indiana BMV and myself. (When asked, the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is my sworn nemesis, and yes I do get asked that question) I am ready for this year to be different. To set myself up for success I am committing to the following resolutions. Some might seem petty, but they are my resolutions, not yours.

Blog more- I have this tumblr account and a second one I set up just to write about work related articles and news worthy topics. More of a “professional blog” if you will. Someday, certainly not soon, I will have to find a new job, and I’d like to have a professional social media presence to offer to an employer. I don’t think they would care much for my personal twitter and tumblr accounts where I bitch, moan and compare people to beers. I would like to also put the disclaimer out that I am just going for frequency not quality content- so I wouldn’t recommend setting up an RSS feed for this blog.
Run 10 races in 12 months, one being my first full marathon. I would have said 12 races in 12 months, but it is just too effing cold in Indiana during the months of January and February.
To continue to be smoke free. – I blame ex-boyfriends for this terrible habit that was clearly forced upon me…
Volunteer more often and become more invested in my community. - I finally registered to vote, and I’m signed up to work a triathlon- so I pretty much consider this resolution met.
To stop rushing. (This means I will try to drive slower, eat with less urgency so that I may enjoy the flavor of my foods and do my best to not end up in relationships that I know I shouldn’t be in)
Lose 2 pants sizes by August. I’m in a childhood friend’s wedding, and I’m assuming I’ll be dateless and well on my way to a mid life crisis, but I can at least look fabulous and fool them all for a few days in a Vine Vineyards pink paisley romper.

There. Those are my resolutions. I am interested to see where the next 12 months take me.
